Energy Club at Darden Banner

Welcome to the Darden Energy Club!

The Darden Energy Club is a premier team of committed and experienced Darden students with interests in traditional, green, and advanced technology energy sources across the entire value chain. Our members hail from a variety of leading functional roles within the sector - from power plant development to environmental policy and project finance to large-scale mergers & acquisitions. The club hosts speakers, provides access and networks with top recruiters, and raises the knowledge base of our members. We welcome members from all backgrounds who are committed to shaping the energy markets of the future.

Recent News - Darden's Strong Presence

Representatives from Darden’s Energy Club recently made it to the finals and placed 4th out of 16 teams in the 2009 McCombs Energy Finance Challenge. In 2008, a Darden team also placed 2nd in the same competition.

A Darden student-founded company, Husk Power Systems, recently won the first Global Business Plan Competition, adding to the success of the student venture. Read more about Husk Power Systems here:

Darden Darden’s renowned alumni network was rated #4 by the Economist Intelligence Unit in 2008. It comprises more than 250 alumni currently employed in Energy and Utilities companies. Click here for more information on the Darden Energy Network.

Differentiation

Darden continues to differentiate itself in and out of the classroom. Students, professors, and alumni have continued to develop cases based on the energy industry related to finance, ethics, decision analysis, and marketing. Darden also has exclusive rights to Enron case information. Enron Corporation's collapse in December 2001 triggered intense debate about drivers of the failure. Prominent among these were the firm's transformation and the culture it spawned. Talk to the writer of Enron cases @ Darden: Samuel E. Bodily - BodilyS@darden.virginia.edu. We continue to have a strong and growing energy recruiting presence at Darden despite turbulent times for the Energy Industry. Leading energy companies across energy sectors are recruiting for general management, finance, and other types of MBA development programs at Darden.
